Melbourne is unquestionably the home of excellent coffee, great food and a generation of aspiring home renovators. With the itch to update existing rather than pack up and move more people are turning to the DIY (myself included) I recently had a sneak peak at popular TV show The Block's kitchens to see what the latest is in kitchen styling, colours and appliances.
This kitchen was made for the home chef in mind. Plenty of bench and storage space complete with a hidden butlers pantry. Taking a twist on modern and traditional the overhead cupboards are glass cabinets and all cupboards have shied away from push touch technology and stuck to the traditional handles for operation. White stone and grey cupboards are teamed perfectly with the timber backdrop creating a sophisticated and well styled kitchen.
Adding a little contrast to an all white kitchen is the use of the matt charcoal cupboards beneath the sink. The tone continues in the graining in the marble used for the bench top. Marble does tend to stain easily so with opting for white you need to be extra careful. With a ceramic integrated stove and gas cooking it allows the best of both cooking elements.
The monochrome kitchen playing with your classic black and white won't date. However, the matt black finish can be quite harsh for the daytime but works perfectly being offset with the glossy white stone. Streamlined with no handles it's the push and touch cupboards. Plenty of bench space and with the added bonus of a hidden section that poses as a butlers pantry without being one.
This kitchen is all about creating tones with the use of timber and warmer tones such as copper and gold threads continuing through the stone bench. Another dimension is created by the use of varying materials such as gloss and matt finishes. With dual smart touch button technology ovens it's easy to see this is the entertainers kitchen.
All appliances are available at The Good Guys Australia Wide.
