Making my way through the jam packed public area where drinks are served in a can and the scent of hot chips are wafting in the unseasonably warm breeze. It's 11:00am and I've already had to step over a keen race-goer that hit the drinks a little too hard and a little too early. With a constant whirl of helicopters taking off and landing in the background I have finally arrived to the alternative universe that is the Emirates marquee, I marvel at the lavish two storey establishment with it's German inspired theme complete with cuckoo clocks and traditional German dancers. Heading up the carpeted stairs I feel like I've entered another dimension, a privileged one. The lavish catering, the premium champagne and beverage service, to the ornate furniture and fresh flowers dangling from the chandelier. From the exterior, this marquee emulates the popular Neuschwanstein Castle in Schwangau Germany. Emirates have been the proud sponsor for the Melbourne Cup carnival for the last 15 years so they have earned this well positioned plot with excellent views of the track and city skyline from the balcony. Guests included Melbourne's elite sporting stars to the familiar faces of our nightly newsreaders. There's one thing for sure Emirates understand the importance of hospitality and showcased here today is a taste from this leading world class airline.
