Ladies and Gentleman, Madame and Monsieur the touring Cirque Du Soleil juggernaut has rolled into town with KOOZA and it's nothing short of a circus act. The show opens with the clown, not your traditional juggler, this one brings rude humour to the stage as he invites up a few members from the audience. There's a great deal of symmetrical choreography as Contortionists manipulate their bodies in sequence with poise and grace. The show mixes theatre with thrills captivating the audience from the beginning to end. What you witness is not just a performance but playground activities such as hoola hoops and skipping raised to astonishing levels. The Wheel of Death is the main thrill, eliciting gasps from the audience as two men dangerously throw themselves on, through and over fast rotating metal wheels. There's an impressive handstand act performed on a tower of chairs where you question if the wobble is choreographed, not something you should try at home. Everything is performed faultlessly. Add a double high-wire act balancing bicycles with a trapeze and triple twists. There is no doubt you are watching some of the most skilled acrobats and performers from across the globe. The show is complete with a 6 piece live band pushing the bounds of interactive circus and a Marie- Chantale Vaillancourt designed wardrobe that comes to life where the costumes each are hand made works of art. KOOZA is now showing in Melbourne under The Grand Chapiteau until 26th March, this is one circus show not to be missed. Tickets available through Ticketek.
