A matching pink tracksuit isn't something you'd have given much thought beyond your teenage years. This time around think a chic and cozy set from the cult Surfer and Street wear brand Mambo. Athleisure is still having a moment and for under $55 this pink set needs to be in your wardrobe. Too good to wear on the couch, take yours out and pair it with fresh sneakers and fine gold jewelry. Dialing back to the brands heritage, Kookai showcased their latest collection with wearable, edgy designs.
We were swept away by romantic, flirty pieces with fitted silhouettes, ruffles and short hemlines. The colour palette remained dark in plum, black, emerald green and a soft introduction to winter white. There was an emphasis on dresses and separates with outerwear being limited to biker jackets in luxurious leather and soft wool. Short dresses with cinched waistlines and A line mini's dominated the collection. Construction and craftsmanship was what you'd expect from the brand and it was clear there was a distinctive vision, we weren't just looking at basics anymore.
After the show, we caught up with head designer Dan Vagner and asked what Fashion means to her "Fashion is an expression of one's personality and individuality, it has no boundaries. it comes from within and you are a blank canvas that only you can paint" so what part of her job is the most difficult? " Fashion has changed and the culture of the business isn't what it was 25 years ago. Fashion now is about embracing change and what women want and how they shop is so different. Trying to keep up with these changes is challenging but also very interesting" Her favourite piece from this collection? "The Evey jacket, it's so versatile and can be worn during the day with a pair of denim jeans or thrown over an evening dress at night. Well by the looks of things, this season is set to be a rather playful one. The new collection is available online and in Kookai stores now.
